A total of 452 undergraduate and graduate degrees and diplomas were awarded at commencement exercises here today by Yeshiva University which also conferred honorary degrees on seven prominent American personalities.
Of the 452 graduates, 242 received bachelor’s degrees, 123 master’s degrees, 31 doctorates and 56 certificates and diplomas. Eighty-seven M. D. degrees were awarded by the University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine and six Ph.Ds were awarded by the Sue Golding Graduate Division of Medical Sciences at their commencement on May 31.
Recipients of honorary doctorates at the commencement were: Senator Mike Mansfield of Montana, who delivered the commencement address; Dr. Gaylord P. Harnwell, president of the University of Pennsylvania; Dr. Freeman J. Dyson, professor at the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, N.J.
Also Justice Edward S. Silver, surrogate and former Kings County District Attorney; Joseph I. Lubin, a member of the board of overseers of the Einstein Medical College; Rabbi Abraham AvRutick of Hartford, Conn., former president of the Rabbinical Council of America; and Rabbi Morris Max, spiritual leader of the Queens Jewish Center.
