Yeshiva University Gets $1,000,000 in Gifts; Dr. Belkin Honored

Friends of Yeshiva University tonight honored Dr. Samuel Belkin on the occasion of his fifteenth year as president of the university by presenting the institution with $1,000,000 in gifts. The announcement of the gifts was made at Yeshiva’s thirteenth annual Charter Day Dinner, held in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

The gifts are comprised of the following: the Sadie Danciger Estate, through trustees Harold Feustenberg, of Chicago, III., and Harry Jacobs, of Kansas City, Mo., has given the university $500,000. Other major gifts were announced from: Walter D. Floersheimer, Stanley R. Broff, and Isidore Lipschutz, all of New York.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Vice President Richard M. Nixon, and Adlai E. Stevenson, and others paid tribute to Mr. Belkin and the university. In his message, the President declared: “During the last 15 years the world has witnessed momentous change and growth. In this time, Yeshiva University has served as a splendid example of the achievement possible to men of courage and conviction. It is a pleasure to aid my congratulations and best wishes.”
