An Educational Service Bureau, to help Jewish elementary and secondary schools improve their educational programs, has been established at Yeshiva University’s School of Education and Community Administration, it was announced here today. The work of the Bureau will range from guidance in the analysis and solution of specific problems to assisting in the evaluation of a school’s total program. It is expected that initially the Bureau will concentrate its efforts in the following areas:
1. The survey and inspection of schools. Qualified professional educators will inspect the school, upon request, and furnish a written report with suggestions and recommendations which will serve as the basis for the improvement of the school.
2. To make available the resources of the University’s Paychological Clinic to the schools for purposes of admission, guidance, diagnosis, and correction, and in dealing with children who have problems.
3. To aid the schools with their personnel problems and to provide them with programs of in-service training; to keep the schools abreast with trends and developments and to serve as a clearing house between the schools themselves; to serve as an information center and liaison for and about the Jewish all-day schools.
The School of Education and Community Administration of Yeshiva University opened two years ago, trains selected personnel for positions of leadership in education and community administration, provides in-service training for personnel already engaged in the areas, and stimulates and carries on educational and social research.
