President John F. Kennedy today accepted the honorary chairmanship of the diamond jubilee observance by Yeshiva University, which this week marks the anniversary of its founding 75 years ago in a second-floor loft on New York’s lower East Side. Referring to the university’s “Blueprint for the Sixties, “a $30, 000,000 development program, President Kennedy stated in a congratulatory message that the “idea of a Yeshiva University City is appealing and I wish you every success.”

The year-long program of anniversary activities, which was officially opened last night by Dr. Samual Belkin, president of the university, will span the academic year, culminating in the commencement exercises on June 14, 1962. To mark the occasion, the unive rsity published a special 16-page supplement in today’s New York Times, containing articles on the university, its history and future goals. Similar supplements were published by the university in the New York Yiddish daily newspapers.
