The students of the Yeshivah in Telz, Lithuania, one of the largest – Tahnudical Academies in Eastern Europe, were placed on a status equal to the students of the religious seminaries of other denominations, with regard to military service, according to the decision of the Lithuanian Cabinet passed today.
The Lithuanian Draft Law excludes from military service all students of religious seminaries. This, however, had not been applied to the students of the Jewish Yeshivoth. The present decision of the Lithuanian Government was secured after numerous delegations and appeals of the Jewish religious leaders.
