The 27th annual conference of YIVO, Yiddish Scientific Institute, now in session here, today adopted a $450,000 budget for the activities of the institute in 1953. More than 1,400 delegates representing 119 Jewish organizations end institutions are attending the conference.
The delegates adopted a resolution appealing to Jewish federation and welfare funds throughout the country to grant greater financial support to the YIVO activities. A plan to publish a volume on the history of the Jews in the United States in connection with the celebration in 1954 of 300 years of Jewish settlement In this country was approved at today’s session. The delegates also approved the publication of a volume devoted to the Jewish communities of Europe annihilated by the Nazis.
