Jews throughout the world will usher in Yom Kippur tomorrow evening at Kol Nidre services in the synagogues marking the must sacred Jewish holiday.

In New York, the Board of Rabbis, comprising 850 Orthodox, Conservative and Reform spiritual leaders, called today for a spirit of “self-examination and confession of sins and crimes committed against the Jewish people in the past and in the present;” In line with a policy adopted four years ago by the New York City Board of Education, public schools throughout the city will be closed on Yom Kippur.
