Mayor Joseph F. Loehr called together yesterday a committee of 200 prominent citizens to join in an effort to raise funds to the extent of $50,000 for the support of the Jewish Community Center, now faced with the prospect of having to close its doors after three and a half years existence.
The Mayor’s committee will work in connection with a campaign organization committee composed of members of the distressed institution, in the drive for funds which will begin on January 15th.
