A thesaurus of slang by Howard N. Rose, young author and newspaperman, will be published next August by the Macmillan Company.
The book, entitled “A Thesaurus of Characteristic Slang for Writers,” is a compilation of 4,000 slang phrases and expressions used in theatrical, underworld, war, western, New England, oilfield, lumberjack and other circles.
The book will supply readymade local color for fictions writers who are not personally familiar with the locals which they are describing, Mr. Rose explained. This will be the first volume containing a classified list of slang terms used in various fields.
