Nash Kestenbaum, national president of Young Israel, announced that the Young Israel movement will, in the coming year, purchase a minimum of $2.2 million in bonds. The branches will purchase $2 million and the National Council will purchase $200,000 in its own name. “The recognition of Israel’s deep financial commitment to the absorption of the olim from Russia is the prime reason for this expanded intense bond drive,” Kestenbaum said.

The first modern Hebrew translation of the original Koran, the work of Aharon Ben-Shemesh, a graduate of The Dropsie University, Philadelphia, has just been published in Israel by Masada, Ltd.
