Mr. Herbert Bentwich, father of Norman Bentwich, the Palestine Attorney-General, and one of the leaders of the old Chovevel Zion movement, celebrated his 70th birthday in Jerusalem. He was presented with an illuminated address reconding his services to the Zionist movement at a large gathering in his honor. Mr. Bentwich’s name was inscribed in the Golden Book of the Jewish National Fund. Colonel Kisch, the head of the Palestine Zionist Executive, and Mr. M. M. Ussischkin, head of the Jewish National Fund, delivered addresses at the gathering.

As President of Jews’ College, London, Chief Rabbi Hertz sent a letter of congratulation to Dr. Simon Hevest of Hungary, Chairman of the Festival Committee in honor of Dr. L. Blau on the occasion of the latter’s birthday.

“I deem it a great privilege to forward the heartiest felicizations of Jews’ College, the Jewish Theological Seminary of British Jewry to Professor Dr. Ludwig Blau, the Rector of your Rabbinical School, on the occasion of his 65th birthday and his completion of his completion of forty years of lirerary work.

“Aside from his fruitful editorial acrivity, Dr. Blau’s conscributions to every departmetn of Jewish learning–Bible and Massorah, Talmudie Jurisprudence and Archaeology, Literary History, Papryrology and Folklore–place his name among the very foremost Jewish scholars of our age. Furthermore, as Rector of your Landesrabbinerschule. Dr. Blau has left the mark of his personality upon a whole generation of Rabbis and Jewish teachers in Hungary.

“It is the hope and prayer of the Council of Jews’ College that God spare him for many years to continue his sacred labors,” Rabbi Rerts wrote.

The Chicago Jewish community celebrated the fiftieth birthday of Abraham Raisin, Yiddish writer, on Sunday.

A concert was held on Sunday afternoon.

A banquet was given on Sunday evening in the poet’s honor.
