Young Women, Exempted from Military Service in Israel, Will Be Drafted for Work

The Ministry of Defense is engaged in writing legislation to draft into assential work young women exempted from military service for religious reasons, it was reported today. It is expected that such women will be assigned to work in hospitals or in the immigrant camps where the shortage of personnel is most acute.

A new settlement, “Yad Hannah,” named in memory of the late Palestinian war peroine, Hannah Senesh, was dedicated today by its future residents, a group of Hungarian immigrant youths. The new collective colony was established on a location from which Iraqi artillery fired against Israel positions during the Arab-Israel war. Miss Senesh was executed by the Nazis in Hungary when she parachuted there during the war to aid in the reseue of Jews.

A factory to manufacture artificial limbs, primarily for Israel war veterans, was opened here this week. Israel Premier David Ben Gurion, who spoke at the cere##onial opening, paid high tribute to the efficiency and services of the Israel Army pedical corps. The factory was established by a group of British investors.
