Youngest Hasidic Leader to Make First U.S. Trip from Jerusalem

Grand Rabbi Yissocher Dov Rokeach, 25, the youngest Hasidic leader in the world, and head of the approximately 100,000 Belzer Hasidim, is scheduled to make his first trip to the U.S. from his residence in Jerusalem on Dec. 17, it was announced by Jack Gold, Board chairman of Yeshiva Chasidic Belz in New York.

Grand Rabbi Rokeach become “Rebbe” of the Belzer Hasidim at the age of 19, and heads the worldwide Hasidic community from its headquarters in Jerusalem. Gold said this trip to the U.S. is being sponsored by the Grand Rabbi’s followers in North America, After arriving at Kennedy Airport, the Grand Rabbi will go to Congregation Chassidic Belz in the William barge section of Brooklyn where an official welcome will take place. A tour of the U.S. and Canada will follow.

West Germany and Algeria opened negotiations today in Rabat, Morocco on German capital aid, investment guarantees and technical aid. It is expected that aid will amount to Def of 70 million, similar to aid granted to Tunisia.
