Three Jewish youths were honored at a Chanukah celebration last night for their heroism in saving nine Sifrei Torah (Scrolls of the Law) from a synagogue under Japanese and Chinese fire.
Chief Rabbi Meyer Ashkenazi, in presenting certificates to the youths at a large meeting sponsored by the Jewish community, told how they had risked their lives to run through the cross-fire into the ward synagogue last month and rescue the holy scrolls.
