Groundbreaking ceremonies were held here today for the construction of a 1,200-seat auditorium at the ZOA House here to be named for Dr. Emanual Neumann, president of the World Union of General Zionists and a member of the Jewish Agency executive.
Jacob Goodman, a prominent New York philanthropist and a founder of the Tarbuth Foundation, was guest of honor here last night at a dinner given by the Zionist Organization of America on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
Among those who addressed the gathering was former Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion who hailed Mr. Goodman’s activities in the field of Hebrew education in the United States. Guests at the dinner included ZOA delegates to the World Zionist Congress which opened here today, members of the Liberal Party, and veterans of the American regiment of the Jewish Battalion of the First World War in which Mr. Goodman served as a volunteer.
