The General Zionist movement should advocate a pro-western policy on the part of Israel, especially in favor of the United States, Daniel Frisch, president of the Zionist Organization of America, said here today.
Addressing a farewell banquet tendered him by the General Zionist organization here prior to his return to New York, Mr. Frisch urged a policy that would enable Israel to benefit from Marshall Plan aid, without which, he said, it would be most difficult to solve the country’s development problems and implement projects such as the Lowdermilk Plan for Jordan River power development.
The American Zionist leader suggested that all elements and parties in Israel unite on domestic affairs for at least two or three years, paving the way for a broad coalition government in order to attract foreign Jewish and non-Jewish capital.
He expressed the hope that the General Zionists would, in the near future, be afforded the possibility of participation in the most vital activities of the government. He said that the failure of the General Zionists and the Progressive Party to amalgamate left him no alternative but to recommend that the Zionist Organization of America carry out its work in Israel independently of the World Confederation of General Zionists.
