The Zim Israel Navigation Company, Israel’s largest shipping firm, today marked the 10th anniversary of its passenger steamship service between New York, Haifa, and other Mediterranean ports.
Zim liners have carried a total of 87,121 passengers across the Atlantic in both directions from the end of April 1953 to the end of April 1963, the American-Israeli Shipping Company–U. S. representatives of Zim–reported. Most of them traveled in the 10, 000 gross ton sistershps, s/s Israel and s/s Zion which ply between New York and Haifa the year round and in the cruise liner, s/s Jerusalem, which makes trans-Atlantic voyages during the peak season.
