A proposal that an impartial inquiry of the method of issuing labor certificates to would-be immigrants for Palestine be launched there was made in the House of Commons today. The unrest which prevails in the Jewish community of Palestine on account of what is deemed an unjust curtailment of the number of certificated issued in view of the labor shortage there, was cited as the motive for such an inquiry.
Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, Colonial Secretary, said in reply to the proposal that Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, High Commissioner of Palestine, is the best Judge of the absorptive capacity of the country. He said he doesn’t see the need for an inquiry.
