The Jewish Agency executive was today empowered to call a meeting of the Zionist Actions Committee–supreme world Zionist body between congresses–to decide on a policy to counteract Moscow’s campaign against Jews, Zionism and Israel.
The meeting will be held next month. The date and the place of the meeting will be fixed by the Jewish Agency executive. Authorization to call such a meeting was given today by the praesidium of the Actions Committee, after it heard a report from Joseph Sprinzak, Speaker of Israel’s Parliament, on the situation of the Jews in the countries behind the Iron Curtain since the recent anti-Jewish campaigns in Moscow and Prague.
Berl Locker, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive in Israel, will leave for Paris this Sunday to meet with Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive in the United States, to fix the date and place of the Actions Committee meeting. Both of them will proceed to New York to consult leaders of responsible Jewish organizations in America on a united reaction to Moscow’s anti-Jewish drive Dr. Goldmann is due in Paris this week-end from Bonn, where he discussed with the West German Government measures for speedy ratification by the German Parliament of the German-Israel reparations agreement.
