The crisis in the executive of the Jewish Agency precipitated by the proffered resignation of David Ben-Gurion, its chairman, and aggravated by the refusal of Dr. Chaim Weizmann to come to Palestine at present, will be dealt with at a special session of the small Zionist Actions Committee on Sunday, it was announced here today. It is expected that the session will take a definite stand on the conflict which has arisen between Mr. Ben-Gurion and Dr. Weizmann as a result of divergencies of opinion on Zionist political matters.
The Arab Chamber of Commerce in Palestine today announced through its secretary that it has not adopted any resolution supporting the White Paper under which Jewish immigration to Palestine is to cease in March, 1944. The announcement says that the attitude of the Chamber of Commerce towards the question of Jewish immigration will be decided at its forthcoming general meeting. This meeting will also decide on the question of the establishment of a national government in Palestine.
The Arab leader Auni Bey Abdul Hadi today denied a report, published some time ago in the London News Chronicle, to the effect that he had stated that no Arab-Jewish disturbances are to be expected while the war is going on, pointing out that “from the outbreak of the war, Arab extremists have remained calm and neutral since they did not want to hamper the British war effort.” In issuing the denial, the Arab extremist leader emphasized that “all Arabs in Palestine are united in demanding their full rights.”
