The Zionist Council of Israel will hold its founding conference here tomorrow. Yacov Tsur, chairman of the preparatory committee, said its main purpose is to gather information about the diaspora and disseminate it in Israel so that a wider understanding of the Jewish people is attained by the Israeli public. Council membership of 200 will be comprised of organizations.
Mr. Tsur said the majority of Israelis have little idea of the thinking and writing of Jews in the diaspora about Zionism and Judaism. The Council, he said, is the best way of correcting this situation. The Council’s aims are to provide information, deepen Jewish unity, work among youth and immigrants, and provide Zionist education and encourage Zionist activities in Israel.
