The United Nations were asked to admit the Jewish people into their councils as equal partners, in a resolution adopted last night at a mass meeting attended by 3,000 persons here, called jointly by the New Zionist Organization and the Jewish State Party. President Roosevelt was asked “to extend recognition and thus pave the way for granting of such recognition by the other United Nations.”
At the same time the resolution demended that all “Jewish parties and organizations which uphold Jewish nationalism form a United Jewish Council to represent the Jewish people as a unit in the Councils of the United Nations.”
Speeches and messages supporting the demand came from the United States Senators Elbert D. Thomas of Utah, W. Warren Barbour of New jersey, William R. Langner of North Dakota and Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. of Massachusetts; Governor J. Howard Mcgrath of Rhode Island, Meir Grossman, president of the Jewish State party, Col. Morris J. Mendelsohn, president of the New Zionist Organizations Representatives of the Czoch, Yugoslav, Greek, Netherlands and Polish Governments-in-Exile also backed the proposal for Jewish representation.
