The ban on export of foreign currency, officially announced today, aroused concern in Zionist circles on whether it would be possible to transfer capital for capitalist emigrants to Palestine.
It was also feared that the restrictions might affect Palestine’s tourist traffic, since tourists are only allowed to export approximately nineteen pounds (about $95) and the deposit required by the British consulate for Palestine tourists amounts to forty pounds (about $200).
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency was informed that Palestinian institutions here regarded their position as unclear and hoped it would soon be clarified. It was learned that a special transfer agreement between Poland and Palestine was possible.
