Welcoming the appeal of the Soviet Jewish intellectuals to the Jews of the world as “a good augury for the future,” the Zionist Review, official Zionist organ, today urges the Soviet government to recognize the national aspirations of the Jewish people as a whole.
“We would like to see the resumption of communications between the Jews in Russia and ourselves,” the Zionist organ writes. “We would like the Soviet Government to understand that National Jewry -and that is the overwhelming majority of world Jewry, does not deem it sufficient to guarantee individual rights, but claims the right to its Hebrew language, its profession of faith in the Jewish heritage and to shape its own destiny.”
