Setting a goal of 500,000 shekolim to be sold in the United States, the Central Shekel Board today issued a “Call for Shekel Registration for 1937” asking American Jews to support the Palestine homeland by buying the certificates, which are necessary to vote for delegates to the World Zionist Congress.
“We feel that American Jewry, enjoying as it does full freedom and economic security, must rally to the cause of the Jewish national homeland in Palestine,” the call said. The campaign is being directed by Samuel Schmidt, of Cincinnati, secretary of the board.
