The twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of Theodor Herzl, founder of the Zionist movement, will be commemorated by Zionist bodies throughout the world. An appeal sent out by the Zionist Executive here declared:
“The Executive of the Zionist Organization desire that the forthcoming twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of our immortal leader, Theodor Herzl, shall be commemorated in an impressive manner by all Zionist bodies throughout the world. The Executive feel that in view of the fact that a quarter of a century has now elapsed since the founder of the Zionist Organization passed away, the celebrations should assume a more imposing character than has hitherto been the case. They also attach very special importance to all memorial gatherings being held on the actual day of the Jahrzeit, Tammuz 20th – July 28th, so that there may be a world-wide demonstration of devotion to the Jewish national movement, which owes its organization to the creative energy of Herzl.”
The Executive propose to commemorate the anniversary on July 28 at a special gathering to be held in Zurich on the eve of the forthcoming Congress. A very large number of Zionists from various parts of the world, including leading representatives of all Zionist bodies, are expected to be present.
