Jewish children will no longer be forced to attend school in this city on Saturdays and Jewish religious holidays, under a decision of the Zurich municipality. In the past, Jewish pupils were required to attend school even on the Sabbath.
The City Council resolution, however, specifies that the exemption applies only to those children whose parents are members of the Jewish community, and whose families celebrate the Sabbath as a religious holiday.
