Cemetary vandalized in Russian republic of Dagestan

Police in the Russian city of Derbent, have detained a 36-year-old man on suspicion of involvement in the desecration of a Jewish cemetery, according to an August 20 report by the state run RIA-Novosti news agency.

Multiple gravestones in a local cemetery were vandalized, although the report did not specify in which manner. 

Derbent is the southern-most city in the Russian Federation, located in the Republic of Dagestan, and has had a Jewish population since at least the 6th Century C.E.
