An Israeli mercenary was arrested in Russia at the request of Colombian authorities.

Yair "Gal" Klein, who was convicted in Colombia in the late 1980s of training fighters for a drug cartel, was arrested Monday at a Moscow airport.

Russian authorities said Klein, 61, would be flown to Israel to await extradition to Colombia, where he is accused of fleeing a 10-year prison sentence. Israeli police had no immediate comment.
