Anti-nuke hecklers strip for Peres |
||||||||||||||||||||
Published: 11/22/2007 Israeli environmental activists stripped before Shimon Peres in a demonstration. The activists were protesting for a weapons of mass destruction-free Middle East. Peres, Israel's president and the founder of its nuclear program, appeared at Tel Aviv University on Thursday for a conference on the regional threat posed by Iran's atomic ambitions. Some of the hecklers later identified themselves as Greenpeace activists and said their message is that the entire Middle East, including Israel, should be "stripped" of nuclear weapons. Security personnel removed the protestors and Peres, who appeared to have been amused by their cheek, continued with his speech. More Breaking News from JTA
