A new initiative will make it easier for Israelis to apply to universities in America.

The special online portal is a project of the Tel Aviv Embassy's U.S. Commercial Service, in conjunction with the Israeli Fulbright program, The Jerusalem Post reported Tuesday.

The portal will be launched at the end of this month at an event hosted by U.S. Ambassador Richard Jones.

About 3,500 Israeli students are studying in the United States, more than half in graduate programs.

Providing higher education to foreign students is a major money-maker for the United States -- about $13 billion a year.
