The Israeli embassy in Washington hosted more than 250 Christian clergy and lay leaders.

They came from 20 U.S. states to participate in the seventh annual Christian Israel Solidarity Event on May 2.

Israeli Ambassador Sallai Meridor noted the importance of the Christian community in the United States to Israel’s success in its 60 years as a nation.

“You cannot assess how important your unequivocal support is for the Jewish people and for the Jewish State of Israel,” Meridor said. “Israel cherishes your friendship and recognizes the invaluable contributions you have made to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship.”

Jonathan Falwell, the senior pastor of the 20,000-member Thomas Road Baptist Church and the son of the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, renewed his father’s lifelong commitment to the State of Israel.

Falwell, referring to his father metaphorically as Moses, expressed his commitment to educating the “next generation of Joshuas” to continue the work of supporting the Jewish people and the State of Israel, especially in the face of increasing adversity.
