Capitol Currents

JTA D.C. bureau chief Ron Kampeas keeps an eye on Washington's political dramas and checks them against the realities. He'll be there when candidates stumble over unacknowledged Jewish mothers, and he'll analyze whether policy measures up to promises. Kampeas has been a political reporter in Washington since 2000; and with JTA since 2003 . Before then he reported from Jerusalem, London and some of the world's hotspots for the A.P.

He received an MFA in creative writing from Columbia University, has recently completed a collection of short stories and is at work on a novel. He starred in the feature film "Hitler's Strawberries" by Academy Award-nominated director Gian-Luigi Polidoro and in the Off Broadway hit "Grandma Sylvia's Funeral." He lives in Los Angeles and is at work on a television pilot. Apparently, he's not the only one in L.A. trying to break into T.V.
