Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs
http://www.fjmc.org The federation created the Shomrei Ha-aretz initiative in the summer of 2008, with the goal of encouraging the Conservative Movement to endorse and promote the objectives of greening synagouges and home environment. To this end, the federation created a soy-based Shabbat candle, put together a solar Ner Tamid kit, organized joint purchasing of biodegradable materials for synagogues, and formed a partnership with the Jewish Nation Fund Go Neutral program. Twelve pilot projects were selected in June 2008, including efforts at Beth David in Saratoga, Calif.; Temple Aliyah of West Hills, Calif., and The Jewish Center in Princeton, NJ.
