Syria, Saudi attempt infiltrations
Separate attempts by Arabs from enemy states to enter Israeli territory were foiled. A 24-year-old Syrian was detained last Friday after walking across a minefield and into the Golan Heights, Israeli police sources said. He was questioned by Israeli security forces, who determined he was mentally unstable and repatriated him via the Red Cross.
In the South, Egyptian security forces
said Saturday they had caught a Saudi as he tried to cross from the Sinai
desert into Israel. Under interrogation, the 32-year-old reportedly
blamed faulty navigation for his near-infiltration.
