PrintHouse urges archives opening
The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved a resolution calling for the ratification of an agreement to open Holocaust archives in Germany. The non-binding resolution, which passed Wednesday in a voice vote, “strongly urges all commission members to consider the short time left to Holocaust survivors and unanimously consent to open” the archives at Bad Arolsen, Germany. The 11 nations governing access to the archives agreed to open the archives a year ago, but only six legislative bodies – in the United States, Israel, Poland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Germany – have ratified the treaty. Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) and Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) sponsored the resolution.
