Lawmaker compares German Chancellor to Hitler
A controversial Polish member of the European Parliament compared German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Adolf Hitler.
Far-right legislator Maciej Giertych, who earlier this year infuriated Jewish groups when he published a pamphlet that said Jews were incapable of integrating into society, told the Polish newspaper Zycie Warszawy Wednesday that “Hitler also wanted to create a super-state. Angela Merkel is acting in the same way, but she is more sly.”
Giertych, founder of the Catholic oriented party League of Polish Famlies which is part of Poland’sgoverning coaltion, was compalining about Merkel’s attempts tomake a stronger, more integrated European Union.
