PrintAMIA prosecutor in Israel to discuss terrorism
Iran was connected to two terrorist attacks in Argentina, their prosecutor asserted during a visit to Israel.
Prosecutor Alberto Nisman, who investigated the 1992 attack on the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires and the 1994 attack against the AMIA Jewish center in the same city, told an Israeli audience Wednesday that Iran was connected to both incidents.
During a talk at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Nisman said Iran’s attacks were a consequence of Argentina’s decision, under former President Carlos Menem, to cancel a nuclear contract with Iran.
“Iranian authorities got angry when Argentina canceled these contracts,” said Nisman, who was hosted in Israel by government officials and terrorist experts.
No one in either of the two cases – in which a total of 114 people were killed – has been brought to justice.
