Two-state solution on J Street wish list
J Street wants the presidential candidates to wish Israel a happy 60th birthday by pledging to pursue a two-state agreement.
The new dovish lobby on Israel policy, in its first major Internet campaign, urges visitors to its site to send e-mails to Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and Republican John McCain with that wish and others.
“Let’s demand strong American leadership to establish permanent, agreed-upon and secure borders for Israel and a path to peace and security for the whole Middle East,” the letter said.
Also on the wish list: support and encourage Israeli-Syrian negotiations, and monitor the commitments of all sides in negotiations.
