PrintGag order on Olmert case extended
An Israeli court extended a gag order on the criminal investigation against Ehud Olmert.
The Tel Aviv Magistrate Court rejected appealsTuesday filed by Israeli journalists against a ban on publishing details that surfaced last week about allegations of misconduct by the prime minister.
The gag order was extended to May 11 as police, who have questioned Olmert and his confidante Shula Zaken, continue their probe.
The journalists argued that it was undemocratic to deprive the public of details regarding the conduct of their chief executive. Legal experts said the blackout aims to prevent Olmert and others suspected in the case of conferring about what and what not to tell investigators.
