Israel birthday site raises charity
The Friends of Israel’s 60th Birthday Celebration is raising money for needy Israelis with a birthday card.
The group’s Web site, http://www.israelbirthday.com, which enables supporters to post a personal birthday card to Israel, hopes to collect $2 million for Israeli charities that provide food, shelter and medical care for needy Israelis.
All Israel birthday card donations will go to leading charities in Israel, including the Jewish National Fund, Nefesh B’Nefesh, American Friends of Magen David Adom, the One Family Fund, Aish HaTorah, Yad Sarah, Yad Eliezer, StandWithUs and Chai Lifeline.
“What Israel needs is people – ordinary people – to come along and just stand by it and provide it with the love and moral support it needs to face its challenges,” said Ari Flynn, president of the grassroots group.
