Alleged Agriprocessors supervisors arrested
Federal officials arrested two alleged supervisors at the Agriprocessors kosher meat plant in Postville, Iowa.
Juan Carlos Guerrero Espinoza and Martin De La Rosa-Loera were arrested Thursday by officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They were set to have a hearing in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids that afternoon, Bob Teig, the spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Northern Iowa, told JTA..
The criminal complaints allege that De La Rosa-Loera encouraged aliens to live in the United States in violation of the law, and aiding and abetting the possession and use of fraudulent identification documents. Along with those two crimes, Espinoza also is accused of abetting aggravated identity theft.
Federal authorities raided the Agriprocessors plant on May 21 and arrested 390 employees, making it the largest immigration bust in U.S. history.
