Beersheba hit by rockets

(JTA) -- Beersheba was struck again by Palestinian-fired rockets as more than 60 rockets from Gaza struck Israel on Wednesday.

Two Grad-style Katyusha rockets hit Beersheba on Wednesday morning, one slamming into a school and destroying a classroom. The school was empty since the Home Front Command ordered all schools within a 25-mile radius of the Gaza border closed. Palestinian rockets hit Beersheba on Tuesday for the first time ever.

Two people were injured after a rocket hit Ashkelon late Wednesday morning, and several Ashkelon residents went into shock after another missile hit early Wednesday afternoon. Another rocket struck the cross-country Route 6 highway.

A visit by Israeli President Shimon Peres to Ashkelon was cut short Wednesday after the multiple rocket attacks.
