PrintU.N. to halt aid deliveries to Gaza
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- The United Nations said it will stop aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip after a worker was killed.
The driver of a U.N. truck heading to the Erez crossing to pick up an aid shipment was killed Thursday by what the United Nations said was Israeli tank shells.
The Israel Defense Forces is investigating the incident.
The United Nations said it will halt the aid deliveries until the safety of its staff can be guaranteed.
On Tuesday, Israel's strike on a U.N. school in northern Gaza killed at least 40 Palestinians. Israel, backed by area residents, claims that Hamas terrorists were firing on Israeli positions from the school and that Israeli troops returned fire. The United Nations says there was no fire coming from the school or nearby.
