Natural gas discovered near Haifa
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- A massive pocket of natural gas was discovered at a well near Haifa's Mediterranean coast.
The more than 3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas could serve Israel's needs for about 15 years and lessen its dependence on outside sources, according to reports.
The U.S.-based Noble Energy Inc. and several Israeli partners have been drilling on the Tamar site for the past five years.
