Turnbull to head Maryland Democrats
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- A prominent Jewish Democrat has been nominated to lead the Maryland Democratic Party.
Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley has informed supporters that he will nominate Susie Turnbull as chairman of the state party next week. Turnbull was most recently vice chair of the Democratic National Committee and was a member of the DNC executive committee from 1997-2009.
Turnbull was named a Jewish Women's International "Woman to Watch" in 2005 and as the principal in an interior space planning business she provided her services pro bono to the new headquarters of the Jewish Social Service Agency in Rockville, Md.
She also serves on the board of JSSA, JWI and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs.
