Barkat to Hollywood: This year in Jerusalem
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Jerusalem's new mayor met with film industry figures in Los Angeles to encourage more filming in his city.
Nir Barkat met March 31 with Haim Saban, the chairman of Saban Capital Group; Ron Meyer, the president of Universal Studios; and Sid Ganis, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, according to a municipality release. Production personnel from Warner Bros. and independent groups, along with talent agents, attorneys and writers, also participated in the meeting, the release said.
The release said Barkat "will be working with the new government of Israel to establish the necessary financial incentives coupled with infrastructure development that will attract the industry to Jerusalem" and will "appoint key personnel in Jerusalem and Los Angeles, and invite industry leaders, producers, and writers to Jerusalem."
