Arab Israelis riot over demolition
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Several hundred residents of an Arab-Israeli town rioted when security forces arrived to demolish an illegal structure.
Five policemen were injured, one with head injuries, late Wednesday night during the violence in Kfar Kasem, located near the central Israeli city of Petach Tikvah. Some of the approximately 400 protesters threw firebombs and stones at the police.
The police had a court order to demolish a cement foundation for a hothouse. The foundation was destroyed.
Several rioters were arrested.
