UJC blacking out Web site for Yom Hazikaron
NEW YORK (JTA) -- The umbrella organization of the Jewish federation system will black out its Web site in honor of Israel’s Memorial Day.
The homepage for the United Jewish Communities, ujc.org, will redirect to a black screen Tuesday with the words “Two minutes of silence in commemoration of Yom Hazikaron, because words cannot express our gratitude.”
A timer will count down the time in honor of Israel's war casualties. After the two minutes, the page will redirect to a 30-second Yom Hazikaron video.
Visitors can then go to a page where they can make donations to help Israel’s victims of war and terror.
Eleven U.S. federations will have similar blackout pages on their Web sites.
