Two killed planting bomb on Gaza border
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Israeli troops killed two militants attempting to plant a bomb on the Gaza Strip border.
The troops opened fire on the militants before dawn on Friday as they were observed approaching the fence. Islamic Jihad, a terrorist group, said the two men were its operatives, media reports said.
Another group, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, claimed responsibility in emails to media for another border explosion later Friday; no one was hurt in that incident.
Israel’s border with Gaza has remained mostly quiet since the end of Israel’s operation against the Hamas terrorist group in January.
